    Heidelberg, New Year’s Eve. 2025/2026.

    New Year’s Eve is a good time to look back at what was achieved in 2025. A reliable metric is to look at the number of publications in which the majority of the authors are from the Heidelberg University Hospital Eye Department and the David J Apple Centre for Vision Research. I list here the search results using key authors’ names on Pubmed (the site of the National Center for Biotechnology Information at the U.S. National Library of Medicine.) There were at least 57 publications, many in the most prestigious peer-reviewed journals.

    While I am immensely proud of this achievement and I thank my colleagues for their hard work and dedication, I also see it sets a target to exceed in 2026 - a goal which we are more than ready to take on. I wish you all a Happy New Year,
