My first attendance at the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) was in 1993 in Chicago. Now almost 30 years later it is my pleasure and honor to receive the AAO’s Life Achievement Honor Award in the same city of Chicago. I’m particularly honored to be the one European surgeon recognized by the American organisation.
It has been a long time, a lot of work, a lot of support from my fellows, faculties and family!
Life Achievement Award
The Academy acknowledged eight members for “their longstanding commitment to advancing our profession and positively impacting patients’ eve health”. This year, eight ophthalmologists were presented with the award. Each accumulated over sixty points through the Academy’s Achievement Awards program. The Academy recognizes their “significant contributions to the Academv and its scientific and educational programs and to ophthalmology”
CSI - another prize!
“CSI Heidelberg - A view from Inside” won the Grand Prize of the AAO Global Video Contest! The Video shows how (using the Miyake Apple Posterior View) the Samsara IMT magnifying Miniature Telescope is implanted in the capsular bag and how it interacts with the tissue.
