Jan Worst – a pioneer of intraocular lens design and the co-founder of the Ophtec IOL-manufacturing company – has died in Groningen in The Netherlands on 25th September 2015.
Influential innovator
Prof. Auffarth, Head of the David J Apple Laboratory, said: “I first met Jan when I was with David Apple. Jan Worst was one of the pioneers in IOL Development and a most influential innovator. He has to be listed among people like Ridley, Binkhorst. Choyce and Epstein. He was a unique character and an excellent teacher”
We mourn the passing of Jan Worst and we extend our deepest sympathy to his widow and family and to his colleagues in Ophtec BV.
